My school is full of cliques and its like a teen movie...why is this!? i know this girl who wears high heels and funky outfits in my school and i admire her differency but people are always laughing, and talking about her and im just so sick of it! And this other guy who is extremely quiet and really smart no body likes him.... my entire grade bows down to the popular crowd and im friggin sick of it! once in school, my teacher was talking about cliques and its was like nerds, popular, average, (hate to say it but...) asians, and geeks, and girls who haven't matured(like hello kitty, etc but we're in 8th grade?) when she asked what group we thought we were in everyone said average......half of the were popular assholes, 2 were nerds/geeks and 3(including me) were actually average. The popular people walk over everyone. In social studies i was sitting next one of them(assigned seats) i said something defiant of her and he looked shocked and gave me a death glare as if she were a queen and i just disgraced her, why do they act this way its pissing me off!! my brother said when they become freshman's they'll get beat up(not actually physically but they wont be jerks and stuff) i live in ohio, and i think isnt it suppose to be like this in california, new york, or massachusetts?
ps, i know you're probably think about the different groups and how i put myself in the average just like the rest, but i really am, im not popular, but definitely not nerdy or geeky, but im not like the girls who haven't exactly grown into their age, i really am and the other two girls are too. | An important fact that will help you the most is to come to the realization that everyone in your peer group is going through the same turmoil and is no where near equipped to offer you any sort of council. They are not bad people they are just not mentally equipped yet to help anyone else. In fact, they are much more likely to cause you harm than good.
Look at it this way. Imagine that you are standing on a hill at twilight and looking down into a large valley. All along the sides of the valley people have campfires. You will note that some are well prepared, properly set up and well maintained. They burn brightly and the fire does not wane. Others are not well maintained and keep getting close to going out then burn too brightly etc.
Now assume everyone wants a good fire that they can be proud of. One that burns bright and does not wane. A well balanced, person will achieve this by learning the proper methods for selecting and drying firewood, having enough on hand for the entire night, paying attention to the fire and maintaining it properly. But there are others who would rather run around wetting on the fires of those around them so their fire seems to be brighter than it is.
Avoid such people. Work on your fire and make it one that reflects warmth and light on you, your family and your friends.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
